                       Journal Writing Course

The following is a sample of my journal writing course.  You can purchase the course in individual packets or as a complete course.

Kinds of Journals

One kind of journal is about your daily activities.  This is more of a diary of the things you do throughout the day.  You can also keep a journal about your feelings, life, dreams, thoughts, books you’ve read, story ideas, beliefs, observations, and other types of journals.

Types of Journals

There are different types and sizes of journals. You can use journals that you buy at a bookstore, or you can use a spiral notebook.

On the other hand, if you are creative, you can design your own journal. These journals can be out of any material, or size and shape you would like to create.

Before you can create your journal, you need to decide what kind of journal you would like to write.

My Journal

Throughout my life, I have used different types of journals.  For example, I have used journal books, 3 x 5 cards, spiral notebooks, books that I made, or other types of journals. Nothing seemed to work. I became discouraged because I wanted to keep a journal, but I wasn't sure how to do it.

Finally, I found a spiral notebook that I like using. It was a 3 subject notebook that was 9 1/2 by 6 inches. It had a pocket inside so that I could keep 3 x 5 cards in it for smaller notes.   I also had post-it notes inside the journal on different pages for extra notes that came to me on those pages.

My journal consisted of story ideas and a synopsis of each book that I am reading. I wanted to keep track of story or book ideas, book reviews, and other writing projects that would help me when I needed to write a story or a review.

Journal Exercise

Here is a journal exercise for you to do.  First, you need to select the type of journal you would like to use.  Then, you need to decide what kind of journal you want to write. Finally, you need to start writing down your information.

The important thing is to keep going. Don't give up with your journal. Be persistent and write something everyday no matter how long or short your idea is that you are writing.
